UN Women, founded on the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.
UN Women promotes the participation of women in all spheres of society and focuses on the following priority areas: 1) Women’s Leadership and Political Participation; 2) Women, Peace and Security and Gender in Humanitarian Action; 3) Women’s Economic Empowerment; 4) Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls and Human Rights. It also works on standards by supporting the development, review and implementation of gender-sensitive policies, laws and strategies in all areas of development. UN Women makes gender equality a central concern in national development planning and budgeting.
To achieve these goals, partnerships with governments, national and international civil society organizations, the private sector, foundations and sister agencies within the United Nations system are essential.
UN Women has been present in Côte d’Ivoire since 2011, initially as a country program before its transformation into a country office in 2013.
As part of its 2021-2035 country program, UN Women supports the priorities of Côte d’Ivoire as outlined in the 2021-2035 PND, which, based on an organized, proactive and inclusive approach, aims to lead Côte d’Ivoire to the rank of middle-income countries by the end of the decade. Indeed, the country’s ten-year strategy aims to ensure that by 2030, the Ivorian economy is structurally transformed through the acceleration of the structural transformation of the economy of Ivorian society as a basis for inclusive development that places men and women at the center as actors and beneficiaries of development.
Since 2014, UN Women Côte d’Ivoire has been supporting the Government of Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment. The organization, in partnership with the government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and the African Development Bank (AfDB), is implementing a multi-faceted women’s economic empowerment program, including climate-resilient agriculture and women’s entrepreneurship.
It is in this context that UN Women is recruiting a Women’s Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator whose main mission will be to support the development of the portfolio of women’s economic empowerment projects in the key areas of its strategic note, namely women’s entrepreneurship and agriculture.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the National Program Manager, the coordinator of the project to support the development of women’s entrepreneurship in Côte d’Ivoire who will be selected will have the following main tasks:
Coordination of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Project through Positive Procurement Reform in West Africa
Ensure technical coordination of the women’s economic empowerment program through positive procurement reform;
Ensure the identification and appropriate monitoring of implementation partnerships for phase 2 of the program;
Ensure that project objectives, results and deliverables are achieved on time and within budget, and that donor and UN Women financial, operational and reporting requirements are met;
Develop and update quarterly work plans and expenditure plans based on the annual work plan;
Ensure the preparation and quality assurance of internal and lessor reports;
Contribute to the development of the initiative through the mobilization of resources from donors;
Ensure compliance with UN Women’s operating rules and procedures;
Support for the Women’s Economic Empowerment Portfolio
Provide support to the overall oversight of Impact 1 of the UN Women Strategic Note (Women’s Economic Empowerment);
Provide support for the design of women’s economic empowerment programs on issues of female entrepreneurship, agriculture;
Support the design, implementation, monitoring, coordination and communication of projects within the portfolio;
Provide support to portfolio projects to ensure timely and effective implementation of activities in accordance with work plans;
Contribute to the sharing of knowledge and information on women’s economic empowerment;
Promote and contribute to the visibility of the programs at relevant national seminars, working group and panel meetings, as well as periodic program evaluation and review meetings;
Proactively contribute to national women’s entrepreneurship networks and UN Women communities of practice.

Required Skills and Experience
Required skills and experience
Education : Hold a postgraduate degree / Master’s degree or equivalent (BAC+5) in economics, business administration, project management or other related fields
PMP certification is an asset.
Experience :
Have at least 5 years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility in management and/or coordination of projects or programs;
Have knowledge in the management of the development project cycle and the results-based programming method;
Have good command of IT tools (Excel, Word, Power point, Internet,);
Have familiarity with the Ivorian institutional framework responsible for the development and protection of women’s rights
LANGUAGES :
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken French and great writing and synthesis skills;
Knowledge of English is a considerable asset.
