Job Description
As part of the EU/UNESCO programme “Promoting evidence-based policies and actions and supporting policy development to strengthen the contribution of creative sectors and industries to sustainable development”, funded by the European Union, a project submitted by the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie was selected by the EU/UNESCO Steering Committee.
This project aims to strengthen the legal and institutional framework of the Ivorian music sector in order to guarantee better structuring, protection, professionalization and economic viability of its players.
In this context, an assistant is requested to contribute to the implementation of the project in terms of support to the culture program specialist.
In accordance with the methodology approved under the aforementioned program, the technical assistance to be provided consists of national multi-stakeholder consultations including sectoral diagnosis and mapping, capacity building activities and peer learning sessions. The content of the activities must be aligned with the partner’s request, with a view to developing a regulatory framework for its cultural and creative industries.
Under the authority of the Head of Office and Representative of the UNESCO Abidjan Office and under the direct supervision of the culture program specialist, the assistant will carry out the following tasks:
Provide organizational, technical and administrative support to the Culture Unit of the Abidjan Office;
Contribute to the implementation of project activities;
Contribute to the planning, preparation and monitoring of missions, feedback sessions and validation of project activities;
Carry out any other activities and/or tasks deemed necessary for the Culture sector and for the Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Training
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in cultural management, marketing management, cultural economics or a related field.
Professional experience
A minimum of one (01) year of professional experience in the field of expertise of the position in the sectors of culture, music or creative industries.
Skills/Competencies
Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to collect, synthesize and analyze information from various sources and to write documents in a clear and concise manner.
Excellent writing, synthesis and communication skills;
Strong planning and organizational skills;
Knowledge of the players in the music sector is an asset.
Ability to prioritize and plan, coordinate and control own work plan;
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as flexibility to adapt work schedules and priorities.
LANGUAGES
Excellent command of French (written, read and spoken). A good knowledge of English would be an asset.
